COACHING - Being tough is nothing to take offense to, some people get those things confused, whether you’re in football, singing, or musical arts … remember how the teacher used to tap your hand with a ruler for hitting the wrong key or note?  When a basketball coach gets in your face with an expression that you may take for anger?  Keep in mind, your coach is trying to get you to the next level in your life, because he or she cares!  There’s nothing like someone believing in you.  If a coach doesn’t say anything to you, then you should be worried.  As a runway coach/fashion show producer/scout, I employ the same techniques because I care, and I see more of you than you can see of yourself. 

People search a lifetime for a support system , and as a model, you have to learn to trust the process of success.  When you have people in your life disciplining you, they’re doing it out of love and the desire to help you win.  So even though I may be tough sometimes, keep it in this context.  My job is to make you a winner, to groom you for success.  This above is called “tough love.”  ( I’m quite sure you’ve heard that phrase before. )

CONFIDENCE – gives you direction to take off from the runway, to ascend to a higher altitude in your life.  It goes beyond training, beyond the day of the show, and carries with you throughout your lifetime.  I firmly believe that confidence is the cornerstone of life, and strengthens the foundation of your career as a model.  You must have some sort of leadership qualities so that you can effectively represent who you are and what you believe in (or want to become) as you move from task to task. 

CONSISTENCY - also essential in linking your beliefs.  Every creature has been given the gift and the power to win, not just for a single moment but repeatedly over the course of your lifetime. I am a strong believer that anyone can be a model.  For instance, let’s look at the “Pinesol” lady.  She is not 5’10” and thin with a chiseled face and long straight hair; she’s curvy with braids, and exudes an earthy quality.  But her enduring career reflects her confidence and consistency. And that equals the power of Pinesol ™ … and the actor’s ability to carve out a niche for herself in this highly competitive business.
